Blogmas Day 8 – What’s In My Bag?

You see what’s in my bags all the time on blogs and youtube but I find them endlessly fascinating. My favourite thing about Amsterdam is that no one has curtains in their front rooms so you can see right into their living rooms whenever you want. Seriously. I like that more than pancakes, €5 Prosecco and permissive attitudes towards drugs and self expression. Anyway. This is what’s in my bag –

  • A stuffed dog doorstop. A secret santa present from the work Christmas lunch yesterday. He’s cute actually I think! Good work Santa.
  • A “wellbeing diary” aka a food log. Each week faithfully filled in from Monday to Thursday lunchtime, then abandoned.
  • A pile of scrunched up receipts

  • Makeup, including –
    • Urban Decay eyeshadow in Sin
    • An eyeshadow pencil
    • An eyeshadow brush
    • BB cream
    • Concealer
    • A foundation brush
    • Eyeliner
    • Mascara
    • Vaseline
    • Lipstick
  • A dried up conker
  • A pencil
  • A booklet of facts about geckos. On a recent trip to Sussex, Paul disappeared into a newsagents and bought me a little gecko pack, with a toy rubber gecko and this fact sheet, as a romantic gift.
  • L’Occitane mini hand cream
  • A loyalty card for G&D’s. This is a brilliant chain of cafes in Oxford – they do bagels, coffee, ice cream etc from 8am to midnight every day.  Perfect for late night waffle emergencies.
  • A bracelet of black pearls

  • A programme from Keble College 9 lessons and carols service. I attended this with Paul and my Mum last week and it was MAGICAL they lit it with 1000 candles omg
  • A bottle of non alcoholic mulled drink. It was my work Christmas party on Monday and loads of our supporters are teetotal so the non alcoholic option is important. The recipe is a closely guarded secret, passed down, colleague to colleague. This bottle is some purloined leftovers. Especially good cut 50/50 with red wine.
  • A tangle of headphones. I don’t know where they came from. They’re not even mine.
  • Two books. I went into Blackwell’s to buy a copy of A Boy Called Christmas (to review – coming soon! Struggling with content ideas over here guys. 24 days is loads of days) and they GAVE me this copy of Aqua Viva because they’re giving away a free book to customers every day until Christmas! Winners.

  • A safety pin
  • A complimentary packet of chilli seeds presented as a matchbook, taken from Wahaca
  • £1.95 in loose change

And that’s it! Comment below with the first thing that you can scoop out of your handbag, if you like.
