My Blog Crushes 2016

OH MY GOD it’s been two weeks, I said I wouldn’t do that, I m a Bad Blogger. It’s because I had flu, but don’t worry, I’ll bitch about that in tomorrow’s catch up.

I thought I would furnish you with a list of my favourite blogs. I find it a bit tricky to find blogs I really love, so I’m sharing these in the hopes of reciprocal recommendations in the comments, okay?

Hannah Gale

This is my current, check-every-morning favourite thing to read. I really love the voice and the approach of the content – it’s lifestyle, fashion and beauty, but written on the assumption that you might have an off day now and then. Lots of confessional stuff about mental health, but written with a reassuring lightness of touch. I love her, and she posts pretty much every day, which is always helpful when you’re looking for a bit of a friend of a blog.

The Spike

This is written by Esther Walker, who used to write my ABSOLUTE FAVE EVER Recipe Rifle. She has stopped writing recipes, and now does basically, fashion for 30-somethings, with jokes in and the odd bit of Mum advice. I will never buy anything she recommends, because she is far richer than me, but I like looking at the pictures. She is Giles Coren’s wife, and he pops up in an anecdote occasionally.

My Milo and Me

This is a Mum blog by Susie chariting her life with baby Milo and her boyfriend Greg Rutherford (off the sports). I love her so much, and the way she unapologetically still acts her age (20’s) and tastes (house music, fashion) “despite” being a Mum. Because why not? This blog makes me less afraid of motherhood overcoming me in a vast swathe of soft play and tweenies.

Franish

This is a straightforward style blog – not my usual thing. Btut I love it, partly because Fran is a medical student and writes interesting medical tidbits she’s learnt, and also because she’s very normal (and a bit nerdy) about her clothes. Like, she’ll set a quarterly budget and explain how shegot the best value out of them, and use the same items again and again, just as I would. It’s nice! But sometimes I drift away, because at the end of the day I don’t really like fashion all that much.

Nothing Good Rhymes With Charlotte

This is a new find, but I love her. Normal 30-something British woman, lots of feminist content presented in an amusing way. Hits all my buttons TBH.

Hurrah For Gin

ANOTHER MUM BLOG YES I KNOW OKAY. This one is full of amusing comics about Katie’s anti-aspirational family adventures. Warm hearted and hilarious. Also, yes Katie – HURRAH for gin!

Please comment with your favourite blogs to read! I’m ALWAYS looking for more 🙂

  1. I can’t believe I forgot Madame Guillotine – used to read her blog a lot until I got lazy and just followed her Facebook/Instagram updates. Fashion, history, history of art, and GIN http://madameguillotine.org.uk/
